thanks for the vote in confidence. im hoping to have it back in the truck by the end of next week. i have to wait for a torque angle gauge to come in tomorrow and finish up the rods. im going to try to get the rear main seal on with it on the stand so i can button up the bottom and call it good.

You're pulling the gear to put on a new cam chain and gear? At 150k that's smart.

finished degreeing rod nuts. still takes about 20 lbs to rotate bottom end. about to throw on oil pump and oil pan

EDIT: nevermind. timing cover has to go on first, but have to degree the cam first....wow forward progress is hard

installed timing gear, will be doing heads shortly. timing is intake opens ~6* early closes ~2* early. margin of error is there since we kinda jerry rigged a timing indicator and degree wheel.

Beautiful, hope it goes better than my recent work.... (just replaced the top end on my father in laws 94 ranger (4.0l), topped off coolant, fixed/filled AC, ran in garage like 30 min or so and when I went to back the thing out it died and would not restart... Burnt up an ECM...... literally......

sorry to hear that man. that really sucks. i hope you can figure it out. a new ecm is probably pretty cheap if you can find a good one at a junk yard.
