Yes, so would india ink. You want something that will stand up to the lapping compound.

Hmmm...I doubt any of that exists here in Yuma. Anyway I just tried to stick the lapping tool on the valves and it wont stick. I assume because they have a lot of build up on the faces. Any shade tree way to clean them? I have some wire brushes, but they arent soft.

Gonna soak one in chemtool carb cleaner for a bit and lightly take one of my wire brushes to it.

on a side note. when i get my ecu from blackbear i know that there is a relearn procedure that needs to be done. in my searches it looks as though that a relearn may not require a scan tool? for the passlock systems (i think i have this) you can just either try to start the vehicle and see if a security light appears. if none appears your good to go. if one appears the vehicle may stall with a security light present. leave the ignition on until the light disappears and then your good? i opted not to send in my stock ECU in case i need a scan tool relearn the hard way and i can still get around.

so im torquing the rod caps and the manual says 20 ft lbs plus 55 degrees. thats seems like quite a bit. and since i dont have a degree wheel does anyone know if i can just go to another ft lb measurement?

EDIT: never mind i figured it out. bottom end is now together. Takes about 20 ft lbs to rotate bottom end. good? bad?

25 is probably in the range, depending on if the cylinder walls are lubed, etc.

i lubed with 30 weight oil. not sure if that will add any significant amount of resistance

Dont think lubing the cyl walls will have anything to do with torquing rod caps.

You can by a torque angle guage (1/2") at Autozone for $10.....

it didnt, just a note towards force required to rotate crankshaft and rods
