Yeah each of them have their good points. The OBS definitely rides better, that could be the premium smooth ride over the Z71 suspension, though. The exterior of the NBS looks better, I like the interior of the OBS. I can't say I really like one better than the other.

funny i think the nbs rides better, i had auto ride on the old one and auto ride on this one as well, i can tell as when you start it it sounds likes it farting.

i think the seats were a little better on the gmt 800, but i have more space over all on the NBS. i like how the interior looks on the GMT 900 better, as i like the luxury elegent feel of it. the gmt 800 felt like a truck (true truck) this feels like a luxury car with aton of space and a big engine.

Is it still $150 or is it $200 now like the website says? Is there a discount or something?

military discount gets you like 10-15% off i think. i believe he told me the standard would be like $170 or something. not totally sure though, cant remember.

So far I am getting the worst mileage out of all of you. 11.7 mixed HWY and In-Town.

I get about 18.5 in the city and 23hwy in my tahoe. Im curious to see what intake/exhaust/tune will do for me.

I know the newer ones get better gas milage, but the older ones really suck. I am going to have to get a custom tune probably

Ok - finally had to weigh in. Here in Northern VA there's a lot of slow driving and stop and go. I'm getting between 12-13 MPG consistently. The rare road trip it jumps to 15-16 depending on hwy speed. In all honesty, I'm 'aggressive' and I have it Hypertech tuned for performance - I'm thinking of changing the tuning to 'economy' and seeing what happens. Filled up yesterday - first time I ever went over $90 - 22.8 gallons cost $90.55. $100 won't be far away.....

Oh - I have to add - my kids call the Yukon the "Anti Hybrid."

= )

I filled on the way here. The light had been on for 3 days and I got probably 30 miles out of it in that time. Anyways I paid $3.939 a gallon and they fit 23.356 Gallons in there. $92 EVEN. It took two reciepts because the first stopped at $75 then he got another $17 in. I am clocking this tank to figure my real mileage. The last one included a lot of off-road and hill climbing.

Another note. Edmunds says I have a 26 Gallon tank is that correct? If so how come the "LOW FUEL" light comes on with 6 gallons left?

I think it's GM being 'conservative.' I don't have the guts to keep pushing once the low fuel light comes on. Page 6-80 of the owner's manual also says 26 gallon capacity. I may carry a gas can when I get low and push it just to see how far it'll go.
What's the most anyone has put in a Yukon or Tahoe, model years 2000 - 2006?

I put 27 gallons in mine but it was coming up the filler neck. I run it out completely trying to see how far it would go with the light on.I had to call my father-in-law to bring me 5 gallons to make it to the gas station, the bad thing was i was less than 2 miles from one. But my light always come on and I fill up now and end up putting around 21 - 22 gallons to top it off.

Thats what I was used to 21 gallons. But today the guy just kept shoving more in there. He got 2 more gallons in once it clicked.

I wouldn't be running the tank low all the time because you WILL burn out your fuel pump and it will be an expensive lesson, trust me. I fill up between 1/4 and when the light comes on now. It's not fun filling up your tank and then your fuel pump dies on you a couple of hours later.

BTW To the guys who are running aftermaket wheels. Are you calibrating your speedo? If not, then your mpg calculations will be wrong.

depending on the wheel/tire size it may not be off significantly. The biggest issue is the OD of the tire. If that is much larger or much smaller, your numbers will be off as mentioned before. However, if there is less than a .5" difference, the change in your calculations will be negligible.

Don't measure diameter, measure the circumfrence, and yes from a 16" to a 20 is a big difference measuring circumfrence. Your vehicle will travel farther per tire revolution on a 20" than a 16"

If the OD of your stock wheel/tire combo is 28.9" and the OD of your current wheel/tire combo is 28.9" then the number of rotations the wheel makes per given distance (i.e. mile/foot/yard) will be the same. Unsprung weight and other variables may change, but the number of turns the wheel takes to go the same distance will not.

It occurs to me that we are both referencing the same concept using different terminology and ideas. You appear to be saying that if the circumference does not change, then you won't need to recalibrate. I am saying that measuring the current tire from end to end or top to bottom will yeild a number which, if matched by the new tire, will not require a need to recalibrate either.

Hopefully that is the case and hopefully our members know that you can get a 22" tire with the same circumference/OD as a 16" tire with the primary difference being sidewall height.

2000 'Ho, 5.3, 92K miles, RP in the crankcase, picked up the ride in December. City mileage with a few short highway trips ranged from 12.9 to 13.8. I put new NGK plats in, Bosch wires and put two highway only trips on it and got 17 and 17.7.

I'm avg'ing about 14mpg, and that's mostly hwy. The heavier wheels dropped my mpg considerably, from about 16 completely stock, to 12 with the wheels. I'm now back up to about 14 since the intake and exhaust mods.
