Disabling the Twilight mode on the Autoheadlights

is there a way to prevent the headlights from coming on during the initial startup?

Talk to JK. he helped me with this a while back. he said to use a 1.5k ohm resistor in series with the photo eye. if i remember right... ask JK he will know the wires for sure.

it would never hurt your HIDS. they are not the same bulb. would not make a difference, just an FYI. only matters with out a relay if you have a gmt 400 tahoe/kon, or a gmt 900 yukon/xl.

i used to have 100 watt highs in mine before i threw in the 55w HIDS. never a problem, and i used highs alot. more than lows.

you will notice a HUGE LOSS in light though. if ya want more light got to a 5000k kit. :cool2:

This is from fullsizechevy

I found a write up on here of how to dissable the auto headlights on the 99-02 trucks, and it is a different set up for the 03-up trucks.
So this is for the 03+and up .....

After a little searching around the net, I found what I was looking for.
I just finished this on mine, with the addition of HIDs in the lows and it works PERFECT.

What this will do, is keep your HID ballast from starving from lack of voltage while the truck is starting, since the lights turn on as soon as the key is turned "ON" (if dark).

This mod will allow full control over your lighting using the manual switch on the dash.

This is copied from Diesel Place,

The wires for the Light Sensor go to the TBC. The "J" connector numbers are molded into the TBC under each connector. The "A/B" are molded on the ends of the connectors and just count wires to get to the right terminal.

Connector J3 terminal A4 = white wire for sensor

Connector J4 terminal B7 = black wire for sensor return
If you have auto climate control the black wire is shared with the left and right solar controls.

You could jump a small piece of wire between J3-A4 (white) and J4-B7 (black) to disable the Light Sensor.

If you have manual climate controls the black wire only goes to the Light Sensor so you could cut J3-A4 (white) and J4-B7 (black) and connect them together. Just be sure to connect the wire on the TBC end and not the ones going to the sensor.

No More Auto Headlights!

He used a little blue wire for the jumper. I found that leaving them pluged into the BCM, and using a small paper clip is alot easier.

Find the J3 plug, then the A4 (white) wire, jump a paper clip from this wire, over to the J4 plug, to the B7(black) wire.

I used heat shrink tubing over the paper clip to only expose 1/2" on both ends so its not to short out on anything.

All of you guys are wrong. YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO ANY ELECTRICAL MODS TO TURN OFF THE DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS.
IF: YOU NEED the lights to be completely off upon the initial startup do the following:

PUT THE PARKING BRAKE ON, START TRUCK. ALL LIGHTS WILL BE OFF. THEN, PRESS THE DOME OVERRIDE BUTTON 4 TIMES FAST. YOU WILL HEAR A CHIME THROUGH YOUR SPEAKERS. RELEASE THE PARKING BRAKE AND ALL LIGHTS WILL BE OFF!!!!!!!

OTHERWISE, START THE TRUCK AND HIT THE DOME OVERRIDE BUTTON 4 TIMES FAST AND THE DAYTIME LAMPS WILL GO OFF, BUT WILL RESET EVERYTIME THE TRUCK IS TURNED OFF THEN ON AGAIN.

Correct the mod i posted here is to allow you to disable the auto headlights apon the initial startup on the tahoe after dusk.
This in turn will still allow you to have the DRL's still functioning without having to remove the DRL 10 amp fuse
