How does stabilitrak come into play with 4wd?

Is using 4wd Auto the best way to put 4wd to use...because I heard that you should engage 4wd atleast once a month?

Should I be worried that I drove about 50-70 miles on 4wd Hi on dry pavement when I went to Reno last weekend? Should I check fluids or anything? Or should I be fine and just not do it again?

I might have it checked just to be safe. Auto track works with the 4 wheel drive system.

Another reason to stay away from 4wd on dry pavement is that usually the front is geared a little (fractionally) higher than the rear so your front is pulling more than the rear is pushing, this increases stability in low traction situations, but also requires a bit of slippage. You can use Auto all you want, you'll just get worse gas mileage.

the stabilitrac or traction control is used for the rear wheel... your truck is one wheel drive (when in 2wd mode) and when it slips it sends power to the other wheel helping traction...

auto 4wd basically does the same thing but uses the 4wd to help gain control...

i have not used 4 hi or lo yet but the auto i used in the snow/ice and when it rains... helps when trying to get into traffic and somewhat helps with
hydroplaning... cause the wheel will cut the water more
