I use the TomTom in the Tahoe, and it is great. I travel a lot for work, and need the portability for rental cars. Also, the menus can be accessed while moving (for passanger or course ;)).

I also have the factory nav for the other vehicle. It works well; however, the non-access of menus while moving is inconvenient.

Yeah factory nav here too. Had it 2 vehicles ago, last vehicle didn't have it and i missed it tremendously, so i said when i bought another vehicle it will have it, and now I'm in love again and happy. But the funny part is I'm a stay at home dad and maybe put 100 miles a month on my car and have no need to go anywhere, except to the occasional wedding or road trip, and i know where we're going, but still fun to see how many more miles, how much longer, so the wife doesn't ask every 10 minutes,.. "Now how much longer?", I just point to the screen...

By that alone it would pay for itself tenfold with each finger point, even if you only drive 100 miles a year.

And mine is factory, and hoping to find a way to upgrade to Bluetooth and XM NavTraffic, 09 style.

I love the stock nav. Yes i dont use it much but i cant stand having things on the windshield. Plus pulling over not only hurts my ego, but i have asked for directions before and they either have no clue what your talking about or just point then you im even more confused.

The other selling point for me was how easy it made setting up movies for the tv in the back and once i get the lock pick ill watch them too (from the passenger seat of course);)

Hey BigJherms,

you still loving that Z2? What would be your top 3 gripes about it? I have heard that they frequently have operational problems and require replacement. Any problem with that?

I have the Garmin 496. It has roads, everything aviation, Xm weather, XM radio, POIs, and marine charts with the G2 chip. I use it for all of my transportation methods, car, boat, plane, even commercial air travel when they let me. I can even let someone use it in all modes while I am driving, unlike the factory GPS which locks out most functions, even when there is someone in the passenger seat, who could safely use it in motion.

Aftermarket universal GPS units also give accurate speed and other information that the factory panel unit thinks (via programming) that we are too stupid to interpret or that we don't need.
