USB and Iphone

Hello!! Just purchased 2012 Tahoe and wanted to know if you can play music from your iPhone via the USB port? When I plug it in it switches to iPod mode and says there is nothing in the file? Is the USB only compatable with iPod and NOT iPhone?

Correct, the USB will only work to play the iPod, to use your vehicle as speakers for your iPhone (like for Pandora radio, etc) you'd need to use the 3.5mm jack on the faceplate of your radio head unit.

I don't believe that this information is correct..

This past summer, we rented a Tahoe for a long road trip. I survived the miles by listening to podcasts that I had saved to my iPhone which was plugged into the USB port.

I agree that the iphone can be used with your usb. My boss does this all the time in the newer tahoes. I myself have not.
