I have an issue with dtc p0122. 96 Tahoe, 5.7L, 4x4. I have tried all that I can to figure this one out. The truck runs like crap, stalls, no power, trans shifts very hard into 2nd gear are the major symptoms. I have replaced the tps twice, done the routine voltage checks, looked for opens and shorts on all the wiring in the engine bay. This issue just wont go away. Does anyone have any insight on this p0122? I believe my next step will have to be to watch the live data on a scan tool, I dont have one and how much is a shop gonna charge just for diag time, unless I can find someone with a scanner?

I appreciate any help or solution, Thank you in advance!

Craig

EDIT:

I just just checked the voltage on the alternator, while truck was running alt was reading 13.8 and the battery was reading 12.7. I checked into this because the truck is hard cranking and the battery just doesnt seem to keep a charge, under 9v cold. I may be sounding dumb but is this the batt or the alt and would this cause false readings at the tps?

Thanks again

I don't know if I can be of much help but 1) did you clear the code after replacing the TPS or did you expect the code would go away? I believe that some codes don't go away for quite a while but not sure of P0122. 2)In some states (not California) you can borrow a scanner for the auto parts store and it may have a live data feature, so you may have some luck there. Lastly, I did purchase an "inexpensive" scanner with live data for about $120 (I think) and it does read the TPS.

This may be redundant to your test already but you could try this: http://easyautodiagnostics.com/gm_tps_test/pickup_van_tps_1.php

Thank you for the reply. I do have a code reader and superchip that I use to clear the codes, and then do a test run, the code comes right back. The link you posted is the exact site I found to do the testing, great site!!

I am sure there is just an electric issue on one of the sensors bringing down the volts. I also have an aftermarket alarm that is installed in the truck but I am not using it, I dont know if it would be causing issues and I would need to remove it?

Torque app and bluetooth scanner

I just got my bluetooth scanner and the torque app! It seems to work good. The first issues I see are the throttle position is at 4%, the fuel pressure is around 50psi and the timing is showing -.24. is this creating my issues with tps p0122? I am not sure what these values should be or how to fix them if they are off. Any help would be very much appreciated!!
