I haven't done this, but the most effective way to remove the residue that I've read about is to use your thumb or finger to roll it off. It works better if heated up a little. Use a blow dryer to heat it up.

best thing is too do it in direct sunlight on a hot summer day, tape just rolls off with your thumb.

since your in NY and its not a hot summer day, pull out the heat gun and get to rollin. the blisters on your thumb will suck for the next week but your tahoe/yukon will look good:smilielol:

I just removed my molding. The best way to remove the double sided tape by far is to use an eraser wheel. A few of the guys here suggested I try one. Before which I tried everything and then some. I finally gave in and ordered one from here:, all it took was a couple hours and my cordless drill. Money well spent, and my truck looked sooooo much better

i always forget about the wheel. found mine in the drill case after i tore my thumbs up last summer. bigblackburban's right. save your thumbs and get the wheel. haha.

Carquest autopart stores carry them in stock (or atleast the one here in town does) there like $5-$6. used to order them all the time for autobody class.

heat gun always worked for me...or blow dryer..heat it up and it should just roll right off...goo gone helps but nothing compared to the heat gun..be careful to not leave the heat gun on your paint for too long...

all body shops have the "erase wheel" as it was referred to earlier. it is an abrasive wheel that doesnt scratch your clear coat specifically designed to remove the glue left from body mouldings. i went to a body shop with mine mouldings pulled off of the s10 and they didn't even charge me. they got most of it off then i used cleaner wax and malms carnauba to make it shine like crazy as if they were never there. my paint was only like 2 years old tho. if your car is 5+ years old then the paint under the mouldings might not be the same color as the rest of your car being that it hasn't been faded by the sun for 5+ years...just a thought....o also, if u have older paint the mouldings can remove the paint if you are not gentle
