I just installed a new rebuilt transmission the other day, now when I shift it into any gear, it stalls the engine out when I let off the brake. I also just changed out the neutral safety switch, thinking that it may have been causing this. The fluids are at the proper level but I have no idea what could be causing this. Any ideas?

I have a 97 with a 5.7L and I bought the rebuilt transmission from a local shop with a good reputation.

Sounds like the converter is locking up on ya, I would unplug the actual electrical feed to the transmission (for the solenoids) and see if it still kills it.

alot of times when you put the new tranny into place some wires can get caught in between, i would check to see if this is so. and normaly they are wires that are along the top of the trans behind the engine. you could start looking up there.
