Acoustic glass uses a special acoustic film that deadens noise by turning it into heat (one form of energy has to be turned into another form of energy, in this case, acoustical energy into thermal, the same way sound deading material like Dynamat works). Auto manufacturers are starting to introduce it more and more into newer cars. Wish they made some for our trucks.

i have a sub in my MB, hits hard (love Xplode), but no rattles. and its 24 years old. :eek2:

Yeah one sub with a couple hundred watts won't do it. The guys here with two 12"s pushing alot more power can rattle their rear gate with ease.

You're not fooling me JK.......I see what you did here. You're making it bulletproof! :Chevy:

When it's 10 degrees (yesterday) out, the desire kinda leaves me to do ANYTHING on the truck.

i get raddles from my headliner. Maybe any weak spots in your build will determine the spaces that need extra attention i.e. budget dyno! So sick though, did you get the dyno bundle packs? Count on JK to take it to the next level..i look foward to seeing the progress of this project... you the man

I haven't had much time to really work on the truck, though I did get started on my sub-system makeover. Some of you may flip with what's going on in the pics. But trust me, it will be nice when it's completed;) .

Oh, and don't jack the truck up by the rearend like it looks in the above pic. The jack isn't holding up the truck by the rearend. It's on jackstands. I used the jack to support some of the rearend weight from being supported by the shocks.
Anyway, I'll be on the truck all day tomorrow, so I'll some more pics as I progress so some of you can start getting an idea of what I'm doing.

I don't know if you're doing amp racks, battery trays, or a subfloor enclosure but it looks promising

Day two on the sub system. Almost complete. I should be done with the new set-up tomorrow. The back half of the truck is finished for sound deadening. I'll post some pics tomorrow of the new set-up and the progress on the Dynamat install.

Almost done. Pics thus far.

Here are some pics from day 2.
I wanted to build a sub system that didn't take any cargo space. So I welded a frame for a sub enclosure that goes into the floor of the cargo area. That's why I was cutting the floor in the previous pics. I built an enclosure from 3/4" MDF that slides down into the metal frame I welded to the truck. Here are some pics.

Here is a 12"x12" square of 3/4" thick clear acrylic I'm trimming/finishing for the install:

Day three.

Here's progress pics from today.

Here's a test fit of what it looks like before I finish it with OEM carpet:

I still have to wrap the cover in carpet to match the rest of it. I used matching leather on top of the sub enclosure under the plexi. The top piece will have matching carpet to blend in. There are white LEDS inside the cover to light the subs when the hatch opens.
Only thing that bugs me is that I had to build it off center due to the fuel lines from the filler neck to the tank. You can tell in this next pic.

And I can still lay my cargo mat over the top.

Holy Ghetto-Bangin' Hoe, Batman!

Very cool JK! Forget the spare, who needs that stupid thing anyway, right? :D Question tho -- with that MDF box hanging out the bottom, how you gonna protect it against the elements? Is it coated with something, or did I miss some pics (or did you put a metal box around the whole thing)? You got some skid plates on the back end now? Foo Dang, dawg!

I love it! Nice and Clean. I hope it never happens but if its broken into they won't be able to find the subs.
