That I have had my Tahoe for a week and it is in the shop having the front bumper painted?

I guess there was some problem with a lot of tahoes bumpers being mounted so close to the front side of the fender that the paint just started peeling off. Now that it has been painted by a chevy dealership can a paint meter read the difference?

Should I be a Ahole about this or just let it go? Obviously there is no money coming out of my pocket but after a week my brand new car has non factory paint on it.

Let's see how many responses you get from people on here to see if they had the same problem. If you don't get responses then I think you should be an ahole about it.

i also have that on mine, both sides. I can barely notice it. I don't know how bad yours is, but I can live w/ it. it obviously is a defect and you have the right to be mad.

Does the new paint have the same warranty as factory? I wouldn't worry about the paint meter, since the VIN check should reveal that it was repainted as a warranty claim. I doubt that being an a-hole will get you anything more than high blood pressure. Good luck.

what year? Where exactly was the paint starting to peel?

it's 2007. where the lowest/very back part of the fenders and the very back of the front bumper meet. so they are near the front tires.mine are just so little you can barely notice it.

I wouldn't worry about being able to tell if it was painted or not. My 2006 BLACK metallic, Dodge Ram had a door repainted the second week I owned it. To me it was never perfect and I could tell that it had been repainted. I took it to several dealerships last month to trade it in on a new Tahoe and not a single one of them noticed the paint work.

I went out and looked at my 08 tahoe that I've had for three weeks and I notice that on right and left corners on the front bumper where it meets the fender there is a small spot where the paint has rubbed off (very small). I'm guessing yours was worse?

All painted now and it looks good. The one good thing is they didnt drill new holes in the front for the front plate.

so how do you fix this problem? If you get it repainted, won't it still rub and peel the new paint?

I figured I'd just keep some touch up paint handy and when I notice a spot of paint rubbing I'd put some on it. I don't like the idea of them painting my bumper.

You would rather touch it up and have it look like there has been paint work than have it re-done? If this car was a few years old I wouldnt mind but when it has 300 miles on and 5 days old I guess I am a little pickier.

How bad was your paint peeling? The two spots on my Tahoe are very very tiny, like smaller than a grain of rice

Wow, that is bad. I'd have them repaint it too. If the picture you posted was after it was painted then it doesn't look like they adjusted the bumper at all. Keep an eye out for it start peeling again, hopefully it won't

If the paint was peeling, then the bumper was prepped properly before when it was painted. Paint shouldn't peel!

They said that it happens on a lot of tahoes so there must be something going on at the factories.

Most of the non-sheet metal parts come in painted so it's probably a supplier problem.

I asked the same thing and they said the bumpers do not come painted from the factory. They order new ones and paint them at the dealers.
