Any idea why the 2008 Tahoe gets do dirty in the back. I can wash the vehicle, go down the road, and immediately it's filthy. It's like Air flows directly over the back going down the road.

Same principles as a big rig - The air swooshes around the back and creates a vaccuum or sorts and dust, etc get's slammed onto the back of the truck.

Hell, this happens on my vette too... The soot from the exhaust puts a film all over the rear end... same reasons why.

Yes, I have the same problem with our 08 Yukon. It's not just these vehicles, because I've owned an Expedition, and also the wifes previous Mini-van was the same way. It's just something about the shape, that causes it.

Thanks to all. I was wondering if the rear Fascia that covers the open hitch section would solve the problem. Looks like that won't help though.

Toyota and I think a few others have a simple fix for this even though I think it's ugly. If you place a small wing on the back of the truck that diverts air straight down, it will minimize the dust and debris collection. I had a 92 4Runner with this wing and it was the only SUV I owned that did not have issues with dirt on the back. Not sure if there is an aftermarket co for these on GM vehicles, nor if you would really want it.

Edit: 277th POST BABY!

Hybrid wing?

I have an 09 Hybrid with cleaned up aero. No dirt probably due to less aero drag. I'll check next time I am close to a late model Tahoe/Hybrid and see if the rear aero wing on mine is similar to the standard on non-hybrids.

As I noted yesterday in the hybrid thread, my 09 has a different exhaust to the previous model year. Maybe the wing is different too.

I think any vehicle w/ a squared off tail w/ tend to suck dust. I had a '59 Impala conv. in HS and it would do the same thing, especially on dusty roads.
