Hi new here i have been searching around for a few days now with not much luck in finding an answer so i thought i would post up my questions, i am a member of other car forums so i know its frustrating when people post without searching so if i missed something obvious or you all know of where i cna find the answer i would love to be pointed in that direction.

so i am actually posting about my cousins yukon, they tow a 25 foot trailer, and the other weekend it was 108 here in oregon believe it or not. they wanted to use the AC but couldnt tow with it on, btw their truck is an 05 or 06 GMC Yukon, i dont know what v8 (what options are there?) it has so bear with me.

anyways what we are wondering is, if there is a good aluminum radiator for an upgrade, or if a radiator from one of the 3/4 ton trucks could be swapped in that is bigger (most of these GM trucks are similar chasis so maybe thats an option) or what else do you guys do to solve the problem? i wasnt with him so i dont know how hot the truck was getting, i was also thinking of adding some watter wetter or royal purple ice. but i doubt that will make a big difference
thanks for listening to this newbs questions and putting up with the long post :)

You could put an aftermarket cooler on it. I put a B&M cooler on my Tahoe.

so did that help the engine temps considerably? i woudl think it may since the radiator can focus on hot engine coolant only, not transmission fluid too

It honestly is hard to tell in the climate that I am in. I doubt there would be an appreciable difference.

Why didnt they use the AC? Was the vehicle overheating? I can use my AC in high temps loaded down with people and gear no problem.

yeah he said the temps were climbing fast, it was like 108 and they had the AC on and a 25 foot trailer hooked up.

If he has a denali... he has a 6.0L AWD... otherwise it is more than likely that he is rocking the 5.3L motor, I am not certain on the over sized radiator but there is an electric fan kit that you can install that does not require you to remove the belt driven auxiliary fan. This will help with the engine heat.... you also have the option of installing the 5800 CFM dual fan electric fan kit. This kit removes the belt driven fan which will lessen the load on the motor and 5800 CFM's is more than the stock fan is bringing in to begin with.

Both these options are easy to install, not horribly expensive (about $500 for the dual fan kit) and should keep the motor cool and operating without strain.

However, Jennabear mentions a really good point in that: if your tranny is over worked... the engine might not be what is actually overheating. If that trailer is over 8000-9000lbs the tranny might be under stress

its not a denalie so it must be the 5.3 i was thinking that i would reccomend the tranny cooler to them anyways because of the size of that trailer, just to extend the life of the tranny a bit longer.

Well I havent looked high and low to actually get a good solid price on these things, here is a link and you can at least get an idea as to what you are looking at (dont buy this from Car-stuff.com, dont buy anything from car-stuff.com)

http://www.car-stuff.com/store/?N=10570+4294966998+1623+11920+5787

This link doesnt show the 5800CFM model, but i am certain they make one. Anyways, I hope you figure it out.
