Hey guys, just bought a 2002 Tahoe LT. Was wondering if running the rear a/c in addition to the front makes your gas milage worse? Its hot in Florida and when I first get in i put both on auto 70 degrees, when the temp gets comfortable i turn the rear air off because I think it burns more gas with 2 a/c's going. True?? thoughts?
Thanks, this forum is a great resource!!!

I believe the rear A/C unit has an electric motor that runs that pump, so that would not affect your gas mileage at all.

Did some playing today... Turned off front air and put rear air on full cold... rear air blew hot... put front air on low, made sure a/c button was lit, rear air stated blowing cold.. Seems the front a/c pump is tied to the rear a/c.. tried different variations but rear would not blow cold unless the front a/c button was lit... interesting.. not sure how it applies to gas milage but i will continue to test...
