Hello everyone! I just got a new to me 95 Tahoe. Put on a new exhaust and she runs great. Got a couple of issues though.

1) The rear seat doesnt fold down. On side does just fine. I pull the lever and it lifts up then fold the back down. The other bigger side doesnt do anything when I pull the cord.

2) I engaged the window lock switch last night so the kids would stop playing with the windows. Later I put the switch back to normal but the rear controls still dont work :( Master controls on the drivers side do cause all the windows to work. Just none of the other controls work any more.

Any input and help is greatly appreciated thanks!

Sounds like you have the same problem with the 60% bench seat that I have. There is a cable mechanism that unlatches the seat when you pull that tab, but the mechanism is probably jammed or the cable could even be frayed. I pulled my entire seat out one time and inspected it and the best I could figure out was that the latch that locks the seat down was simply jammed and would not open anymore. The position and manner of the mechanism is far too akward to bother fixing it, unless you tore apart your entire seat. I would try to see if maybe you could find a new seat for cheap on ebay or at a boneyard. I personally don't know how to fix the problem other than replacing it.

could be a foriegn object got into the locking mechanism, ie coin, screw, candy etc... you should be able to get at it from the bottom of the seat. the carpet on the underside is velcro. peel it down and take a look at the mechanism as you pull on the release strap. post your findings, good luck

Thats what I did. Pulled the carpet down cleaned out all the tons of kid crap in there and soaked it with WD-40. I then put a wooden dowel through the loop and pulled real hard and broke it free. Still working on getting the back to fold down but the seat lifts up now. Does not return freely though I have to use needle nose pliers to pull the cable back in so when closed it locks in place. Don't know if I can buy that cable or not.

As for the window I used the butt of my lighter and whacked the switch to the unlocked position pretty good and poof all the windows work again lol.

the rear part of the seat is released by a cable as well. if you look on the inner hinge part of the seat bottom you will se a cable attatched to it, this releases a mechanism for the back to lower after the bottom has been raised fully.

So there is another cable that has to be pulled to get the back to fold down on the 60? The 40 side just folds right down. Do you happen to have a picture?

correct there is another cable. when you flip the bottom up look down at the hinges, you'll see one of them has a cable on it. thats the release for the top section. sounds like yours are bound up or came off. i'll take pics and post asap.

cant get pics to load, do u know how to?

You have to upload them to photobucket (or similar site) and then do [ IMG ] [ / IMG ] without the spaces around the link.

Or just email it to me :)

Thanks!
