i had this same problem happen to me, i got 3.73s in the rear with about 33 inch tires and popped the rear so bad it wouldn't go, the detriot tru trac is a great way to go if you dont mind spendin a lil on it, from factory the G80 stock locker is about 500 from a shop but on ebay the 31 spline tru trac was 350ish, i installed it myself and put new bearings in too, its really not to bad of a job to do yourself if you have a little bit of time to do it, now when my rear poped it also took out the gears so i got yukon 3.73 sence mines 4x4 and will cost a bit to swap to somthing like 4.10's but so far i havent had a problem at all, the g80s like to go out cause the side gears like to move away from the spider gears when the clutches wear out.
