Park Brake/Unknow Problem

I have a 97 2 door tahoe and recently had an remote start installed a couple of moths ago and their is this annoying problem where when I start the vehicle or remote start it then get in the car and try to get out of park it just gets locked into park. I dont know why but I have to just sit in the car untill it gets unlocked from park. cant go into any other gears its really pisses me off when I need to get to work or school and being late because of it, any one know or have this problem???

You're depressing the brake pedal before trying to get it out of park, right?

If you are and it still won't come out of park, then I'd say something with the remote start got messed up as the truck doesn't think it's running when it actually is so the truck is not letting you shift out of park.

yea i press on brake when trying to get out, and sometimes ill hear this clicking noise from the steering coloum

Hmm... Not sure what the clicking would be. Probably a relay of some sort. I would have the install of the remote start double checked that it's not causing a short somewhere. Maybe contact the manufacturer of the remote start to see if they have any suggestions.

Try to repost this in the proper year section. This is for 2007+. People with the same year truck can probally help you better.

the remote start wont effect it. you have to turn the key before driving it, or else hitting the brake would shut off the truck. seems like that cable (as stated in the other post) would be the problem
