Greetings,

I have an 08 Chevy Tahoe LTZ & have recently installed the Gen IV Lockpick from Coastal Tech. Ever since the installation, the GPS position report & internal nav unit compass are not working right. Generally speaking, I notice about a 90 degree discrepancy in compass readings between the internal unit compass & the standby compass in the mirror. Furthermore, there is a large time interval between GPS position updates rendering the NAV useless. The system seems to update every ten miles or so, and is unable to detect direction or vehicle movement. This causes the position triangle to remain stationary on a map location. When I installed the Lockpick pad, I was able to tuck the device underneath the climate control panel in the dash stack. I am beginning to wonder if something inside the Lockpick is causing interference with the Nav system? The system was running beautifully before the install. If anyone is familiar with the system & able to lend a hand I would be greatly appreciative.

Thank you,

Ryan

I helped a friend install one on his truck. The same thing was happening when we were 'using' the dvd, by pressing the mute button to activate the Lockpick. To get the GPS working, we had to disable the lockpick. I think we did that by hitting the window lock 4 times? Going from memory a couple months ago. Someone else might have better help.

I guess the reasoning behind this, is that if you're watching a dvd, you're not using the gps, and the other way around too.

Your right, using the "4 mute" method of unlocking the driver's restrictions have the undesired effect of disabling the nav. However, the Gen4 manual says that there is an automatic method of removing the drivers restictions by moving some jumpers around. Perhaps that setting will enable the nav? Looks like I will be prying into the stack again to find out. Should have read the section on lockpick jumpers first.
