Just changed the gears to 4:56. Other than that it's stock.

I would not chase the 4L80e unless you plan on making big horsepower or if you plan to abuse the truck on the drag strip. Then it is worth it

You can install a higher stall speed TC, using the 4L60e and see a huge difference in performance.

Just my .02

Agreed, don't fix what aint broken.............

If you are leaning towards making the swap in the future, I would be looking for a TCU. They never come along on ebay when you need them. You could pick one up and have it on hand. If you don't end up using it, just turn around and sell it. They are always in demand and they don't wear out.

The original TCU (transmission control unit), was made by FAST.

They were building a engine control unit and planned on controlling the transmission from the same box. It has two plugs on the end. One for the trans and the other for the engine.

They ended up just building them separate, one box for trans and one box for the engine. They turned the TCU box over to TCI to market.

The second generation of the TCU has only one plug on the box, since they were only using one.

They also upgraded the control software for the windows. It doesn't matter which box you find, either works great.

Here is some info to explain and to show the difference between the boxes.

That is a great transmission, but just so you know, any transmission shop can built the exact same thing, using your trans and save you a lot of money.

They are all just using “off the shelf†parts. Transmission guys, know what parts need to be beefed up and which parts are the best.

Corvette parts are not always the best answer for these trucks.

I have had my trans in and out so many times, I bought my own transmission jack. That is the best way to save several hundred dollars.
