to be on the safe side i always roll down my driver side window.

I've made that a rule ever since I started driving when I was 16. Never get out of the car without the key, unless I roll down the window first. It's such a habit now that I do it even when I have a passenger in the car that could let me in if I locked myself out.

Course I've also always driven relatively crappy cars and didn't care if snow was blowing in through the open window into the interior in the middle of a snowstorm. On the Tahoe I'd probably keep the window up, knowing if anything happened we have OnStar

This same thing happened to me while I was pumping gas a couple of weeks ago in my 07 Tahoe i had the door open and the keys in the ignition, in the middle of pumping gas i hear my doors lock i immediately thought someone was messing with me. Or someone else was close by with a GM locking their vehicle and the signals crossed or something mistakingly locking my doors.

I was telling my buddy about this and it has happened twice to him in his 07 Avalanche where he had to call Onstar to unlock his doors. He took it to the dealer and there is a recall out for the keyfobs for this issue.
