What is the best lift for Z71?

Im thinking either rancho quicklift, 4", or 6"

I am only concerned about the tires on the 4" the 33s look too small to me but i think they would look good with the quicklift but i want a little more lift maybe

Also can anyone explain the quicklift to me and how much it cost?

Any other recomendation would be nice too

Finally something I can answer!

I have a Rancho 4 inch suspension lift with rancho 9000XL shocks.

I owned my tahoe for almost a year before I picked a lift kit during that time I researched all the brands and different types of lift. Rancho is probably the best kit out there hands down. ** Stay away from leveling kits and body lifts i.e. tuff country, skyjacker, etc. these kit will give you headaches**. another reason why I went with rancho was becuase bigger is not always better (4inch vs 6in). Personally I dont like "monster trucks" in my opinion they look stupid and are not very safe. (Excurision with 44's)

with the rancho 4 inch lift you can fit up to 35's (34.8) inch tires or 315/70/17 (34.4?) or 305/65/18 (33.7inch). the most important part are going to be the wheels, 5.5 inch max backspacing anything more that and it will rub (33 inch tires look fine).

the rancho quicklift is also a good option if you don't want to drop $2-3K on a lift kit. the way the quicklift works is that it replaces the front stock shock and mounts the OEM coil higher about 2 inches up on the rancho shock giving it the "quick lift" . I think this is a good opiton if you dont want a real lift. you probabaly spend about $400 ($179 ea plus shipping) for the quicklift, about 2-3 hours of labor ( $80 X 3 Hrs= $240) alignment $80 estimated total $ 720.

I have use the rancho (4inch lift) on 27 other 2007 tahoes and to this date I have had no problems. Knock on wood.

They are other tahoe owners on this forum with different brand lifts who many want to chime in...

thanks for the reply

does the quicklift not do anything to the rear and only level out the front 2 inches? I thought it was like a 2.5 inch lift all around.

can you tell me how much the rancho 4" cost with the 9000xls?

Also is there any rubbing with the 35s, did you have to do any wheel well triming? I personally think that the 33s look too small witht the 4" lift. The only other option i could think of is a 3" body lift wiht 33s but im thinking about what you said about the body kits.

I also really want my tahoe to look good. I want to make sure that my tires stick out somewhat past the wheel wells. all of the lifts ive seen usually have 12.5 inch tires but they seem to poke out a lot. is that because the tires or offest or did they use wheel spacers im not sure?

any recomendations would be great

The quick lift will not provide any lift in the rear. they are only made for the front.

I paid little over $2k for my lift(install & alignment, etc). Most of the time the reason why the tires stick out is becuase of the backspacing on the wheels, stay away from spacers! I did have to trim some of the plastic in the inner wheel well to clear 35's.

You and I have the same tahoe if you want to get an idea on what your tahoe will look like when done click below....

This calculator is a useful tool. You can use it to enter your OEM wheel width and offset (7.5", 31) and then figure out by adjusting the numbers what offset you'd need with the new wheels. Hope that helps.

Try to stay around 5.5 inch backspacing. If you want your tires to stick out even more you are going to have to with a 6 inch lift and 5.70 inch backspacing and 325/65/18 ( or 35 x 13.50), that size will stick out pretty good. i have 35 x 12.5 on my truck and it gives it an aggresive stance.

I think it'll be a tight fit with just a leveling kit and 33's. I don't trust bodylifts becuase to me it feels like the body is kind of wobblely. Let us know how it turns out.:cool2:

the quick lift is just a different style leveling kit that replaces the stock strut but uses the stock coil spring, its nice becuase it adjusts between 1-2.5" of lift. if ur wanting 2.5" of lift i would just buy a 2.5" leveling kit. u can then add a 3/4" spacer in the rear to bring it up a bit too.

i honestly think the 4" rancho is the best bet for you with a wheel that is 9" wide with 4.5-5" backspace and run a wide 33" tire. what size rims are u wanting to run?

I'm running a 3/1.5 leveling kit on my 07 z71 Tahoe and 35's did have to cut a bit but was clearing 295/65r18 on factory z71 wheels with .25 spacer I think you would be happy with a 2.5/1 or even a 3/1.5 for it and clear an easy 33 with no cutting I only have .25 spacer all around and no rub after some trimming on my 35/12.5r18's..
