Hey guys enjoyed reading your post. I also have an auto tech back ground.

Worked for Chevy, Dodge dealer as a mechanic.Firestone did front end alignments, BF Goodrich managed there repair shop that did general auto repair, Front end alignment on cars & big rigs.

I also worked for Sox & Martin building and maintaining Pro Stock and Modified production drag cars. Raced most of the drag strips in the country. We also set up car clinics at Dodge and Plymouth dealers showing our cars and setting up racing parts displays and also showing race videos.

I agree on the original gaskets lasting fifteen years. I usually try to use OEM parts. I have used Felpro gaskets on other applications and have never had an issue. I am going to a Chevy dealer and talk with a friend in the parts dept and ask him to let me look at their intake gasket set and then I will make a decision.

You guys keep the comment coming. I appreciate your replies. Your opinion counts!

Got a long wait then. Depending on where you are at. Myself and rocken are on the west coast, him in Ca. and me in Or., so we can work on things whenever we want. Had to rub that in. Long as I have a roof above for the rain I can stay dry and rocken has his own mansion in L.B., Ca. and just has his minions do the work for him but he does supervise.

Have a great day ElGuapo. I will be between here and the NFL combine on tv and working. I explained all at the 09 thread we are on.

Now go find a question or two to help someone with. Did you check out the Tahoe/Yukon Forum. It is a site that is with this one. Kind of a sister forum. It is very busy. Some great tech people there too. You will like it.

Installed the intake gaskets and knock sensors. I used the Felpro 98016.
I was pleased with the way they laid on the head bolts. The stayed in place when I reinstalled the intake.

Every thing went very smooth. The only issue I had was cleaning up under the intake and cleaning the intake ports. Lots of dirt under intake an lots of junk on intake ports on heads. Oh and installing the cooling lines in the throttle body was a bitch..

Bought a crappy inch pounds torque wrench from Harbor Freight. I guess you can't expect much for nine dollars..

Knocked it out in about three hours not including two beer breaks..

Could have finished quicker but I dropped the extension and socket of the torque wrench several times and had to dig the out around the tranny and sockets in the tray under the engine..

Tahoe is back to running great!! :peace::peace:
