Hi folks I am new to the group (I've lurked for a while to try and become familiar before posting) and hope I post this correctly and in the proper place. I hope to gain some knowledge as well as possibly offering any help I can.

My question right now is how can I find out what key fob I need when I don't currently have one. I'm pretty sure it should have one and probably someone in the past lost it or whatever. I know I can buy them on eBay for a reasonable price but I don't how to get started finding out which one I need. Thanks for any and all help in advance.

I had an original one when I got mine a few months ago. It was in horrible shape, so I just surfed on-line to find the three-button version. Lock/Unlock/Rear Doors. Not sure if you have doors or a gate so I can't help much more.

Thanks for responding M38A1. I do have the barn doors but the auto locks don't work on them at all which is no big deal to me. I searched online hard and think I have found the correct one. I ordered it so I will update when I find out.

My barn door lock works/doesn't work about half the time each. I'm not too worried about it as when they lock they lock. It's just sometimes it won't unlock but that's what the key is for. :)

the contacts in upper right corner of door jamb go bad causing loss of defrost and locks....

Thank you! Can they be cleaned/repaired or is it just a replacement thing?

Part of me thinks the 15 year old grease in/on the lock mechanism might be slowing actuation up some.

In my 95, the actuator died, so I took it out and replaced with a universal, also the contacts on mine, I did pull them out and apart, cleaned, tweaked the sliding contacts, and put some bulb grease in them. Worked for me, should have done the drivers side also as the defroster on it did not work on that side....

Ok guys here's my update.

First off I had two bad front lock actuators along with two broke front exterior handles so made a good day of repairing those so if and when I did get the proper key FOB everything would work.

After reading on this forum how to jump pin #4 and pin #8 I think it is I determined that I did have key-less entry so then I search and study all I could on the most likely key fob (a couple different ones for this model apparently) and headed to eBay. Key fob arrived the same day I installed my actuators so into program mode I head and bingo in 30 seconds I have a working key FOB.

Since everything else is working I may tackle the barn doors now and see what I can do about them. I notice that a couple of brass contacts between the door and body switch are corroded so probably going to start with them.

I have really learned a lot on this forum and hope I can provide any help I can to others.

Thanks to all who responded and helped me out.

Your receipt should tell you if you have keyless entry btw(if its still with the vehicle like mine was) but it seems you've sorted that out. Also can anyone rxplain why my front pass door lock doesn't work with the master unlock button? And if I repeatedly lock and unlock the doors with said button the doors will keep actuating but the lock/unlock indicator(orange sticker) will stop moving. Does this mean I need to clean up the greased mechanisms or whatever? Since where on the topic...

What recipt? The RPO code sheet might in the glove box......

As far as the lock indicator if the door IS ACTUALLY locking/unlocking, they sell a door handle replacement at the parts store (interior handle W/ indicator knob for lock)....

The original receipt as in what the dealer hands to you when you purchase the vehicle and lists all the options. Mine was still in the glove box. And no the doors don't actuate. The indicator is true to whether the door is unlock/locked
