Hello All.
I just purchased an 2005 LT last week and I'm lookin into new lights. I'm trying to learn the basics of HIDs and wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. Thanks for your time.

Suppliers on here are great. highly reccommend XenonDepot.com and HigherLevelAuto both are sponcers on here and we get discounts.

also complament those HIDS with a great set of projectors. TYC is my brand.

http://www.commandocaralarms.com/itemdetails.asp?ProductID=1473

EDIT- you have a tahoe not a yukon, these will work too and are the same projector. Even better With HIDS. If you get these housings, make sure you tell the guy you order your HIDS from to get you an H1 Set with 9006 connectors for plug and play set up.

They also sell them with HIDS already included, and are 100% dot approved let me find that link for you

You will find numbers like 4300k, 5000k, 6000, 10000k. I highly reccommend 4300k for the best light output and stock color. With the headlight hosings above they will look like BMW and lexus headlights, will not glare to on coming traffic and you will see for MILES!!!

Check these out: vvme.com. Cheap but good quality. I recommend 5000k as they give the whitest light with the highest light output.

Thanks for the quick response.

I like the look of the "halo". Is this something that can be purchased seperately or is it best to purchase included with the housing?

Thanks again.

it can be done seperatly, but Definalty reccommend for ease of installation to just buy a hosinging with them already installed.

Not all projector-lights give better lighting. I know a guy who has HID and projectors and he is going to replace the projectors with standard lights because he thinks the projectors give off bad light.

he had fake ebay projectors then. THe ones I posted above are real projectors like used on the acura mdx, pontiac G8, and are E-code (like europe which is very strict on lights) So just do your research is all im saying.

I have HIDs in my stock housing and it works great. I don't see the justification of getting real projectors based on their price.

Its more a personal prefrence, and how strict your state laws are. Or how smart your cops are. I have them in my stock housings just fine. But thats because there aint no good projectors for my model. if there was I would have them in a heartbeat to get the beam paddern. But im a light nut.

If your happy with the preformance and your beam paddern is good, then go for it. Its still a much better upgrade from stock.

I'm leaning towards a black housing for projectors and bumper lights. I'd like to keep a "dark" theme to go with the paint. My plan is black housings for the breaklights with LEDs and smoke lenses.

My goal is to keep the headlights under $200.

Thats a sleek look. Again not trying to push new housings on ya. I have 4300k ones in my silverado's stock housings and they work just fine. Here ya go... except for the first pic with the highbeams on, all the pics just have lows and fogs on.

That's true. The beam pattern would be great (sharp cut off, more evenly spread light). But if you want to keep everything under $200 including HIDs? Forget it. It can always be a future upgrade. :yesnod:

$200 for headlight only. The HIDs are another story. I'm looking at the 4300k that Thunder is recommending.

I'd like to go brighter for those early mornings and late evenings during hunting season, but I'm not sure how John Law is about these things. I'll assume that the beam angle can help avoid issues.

Projectors completly avoid the issue. In stock housings you should aim them down a bit. 4300k Will have the least glare. HIDS are kinda bass akwards. 10000k will LOOK the birghtest (and be the most annoying on the road) but will have the least usuable light. 4300k Will look the dimist, but will have the most light thrown down on the road as there is no color wash out.
