New guy here looking for answers. My son was installing some LEDs under the dash of his 98 and shorted something out. He had them plugged into the cig. lighter and crossed the wires. his stereo quit as did his hatch release and the OBD II port. there were no blown fuses, are there any fusible link that could be blown? Thanks for any help.

Check both fuse boxes, he either blew a fuse or burnt a wire, IIRC the OBD2 port and cig lighter use the same fuse and stereo memory wire uses it as well...... Fuse 13 20A in the cab fuse box.....

Thanks, all the fuses are fine so must be a wire burnt into but finding it is going to be a job.

Thanks, I'm sure we'll find it just a matter of getting it here to the house on a day I'm off and getting into it.

Well I found the problem. It was a blown fuse under the hood. My son had checked them with a test light but only on the hot side, imagine his surprise when I hit the fuse with my test light and didn't get it lit up, priceless. Thanks for all the help.
