EGR issues with 2001 Tahoe.

Can someone tell me where the EGR valve is located on a 2001 Tahoe? My check engine light has been on for awhile and when I got it checked, that was what came up. In addition to getting crappy gas mileage, my transmission has been hesitating when shifting gears. I spoke with some people and they mentioned that the EGR valve might be stuck open causing a huge vacuum leak. Anyone heard of this before?

You might not have one. I'm having the same problem and looking for the EGR Valve. Went today and bought a Haynes Repair Manual. The pictures shows that it's next to the Oil Fill spout. My Tahoe does not have the EGR valve there. There is a plug in the side of the head and 4 bolt holes where the mounting block for the EGR valve should be. I see that the heat shield covering the Exhaust manifold has the hole for the pipe, but the exhaust manifold itself does not have the hookups for the EGR pipe. If our vehilcles do not have the EGR valve, then what is triggering the Check Engine light and the code that reads a bad EGR valve? I have a 2004 Tahoe.

The EGR valve should be located on the front of the passenger side head.
What codes are you guys getting? There are a few codes that a bad EGR can set, PO401, PO405, etc.

P0446 2004 Tahoe

Took back to AutoZone today and there was only one code that came up.
P0446 EVAP. So what's wrong with the EVAP? Last time I was there, there were two codes and the guy told me it was the EGR
Numbers on the Emissions sticker.
