Differential drain plug???

I was going to start a rear differential fluid change tonight and I crawled under and found the fill plug quick..... but where is the drain plug?? To change the fluid I have to remove the cover instead of having a plug?? Thanx! Guess I'm showing my newbieness.

The plug on my '00 Tahoe 4wd is right at the bottom of the pumpkin, I am not sure if your is identical, but I think it is. Takes a 3/8 ratchet end or extension in it.

Looking at others pictures (4wd) where the drain plug is mine is flat metal with no plug. Has me guessing that I have to pull the cover and gasket since no other plug seems to be there to drain.

The Haynes manual is saying that the plug should be at the very bottom of the diff, probably a flat plug that sits flush with the housing

I have the same manual and the picture it shows where the drain plug is at is flat metal with no signs of ever having a drain plug there. AllData site today said that the cover must come off for a diff. fluid change. Oh well, off to the dealer to get a gasket.

My buddy's '02 Tahoe Z71 w/ 4.10's has a drain plug, hmmm, weird.
