My engine is done in the 2-door. I want to maximize MPGs. Does anyone have any good suggestions? Gas, diesel, it doesn't matter. Money is not an issue.

12 valve Cummins. I believe you will need a Lift. But thats the way I would go if $money$ wasn't a problem.

You could lower it, install smaller wheels and tires, remove the 4x4 system, and install a V6 out of a pickup. It would suck, but you'd probably get better mileage.

Build and engine stictly for E85 fuel. :cool2:

I would rebuild the existing engine taking it up to 14 to 1 compression. Put some heads on it that can breath and do headers and dual exhaust.

That will give you lots of power and good economy. Plus the fuel will be cheaper. You should be able to get 400 HP at the crank without too much trouble.

You can do injection or a controlled leaker using after market parts. I would do the injection with a stand alone computer. There are several to choose from.

I plan on doing this myself in the future.

The average bear on the street thinks E85 is not effecient, because of the stories they hear of people with "flex fuel" vehicles. Problem is, they are running it in 10 to 1 compression engines, not taking advantage of the 105 octane.

If you have extra cash laying around, I would add a six speed auto to that. The 6L60e tranny.

That would be one sweet ride. :)

DUDE, i would love to do that to my 7.4 liter. Its got gobs of power now as it is. I have burned 2 (yes 2 tanks at 45 gallons each) JUST THIS WEEK. With my driving its bound to happen. In the 07 when ever i speed up I dont think i have seen higher than 2mpg in the 07. calculations thats about 6 mpg in the suburban. But man with the magnaflows and the power its just taunting me. There are days i have taken the extra long way home just cause i love to drive it. I went and found and empty road the other day Took her to 96 mph. Had more but felt really unstedy with the 6" lift. But man at that speed (was at about 4500 rpm in 4th) If you waited 30 seconds you could see the fuel gauge move more towards E. But with gast a 250 a gallon for it (i put v-power in this one) I dont give a crap. :D

Would headers and true dual exhaust honestly help with fuel economy?

We were talking hypothetical with no concern for $.

The stock heads on the 95 Tahoe are not very efficient. The intakes were not that hot either. The heads and intake, were a big part of the horsepower gain on the 96 model.

All engines are basically air pumps. The power from any engine is the result of fuel burning in air. The more air goes through the engine the more power. Assuming correct air fuel mixture.

I was suggesting the heads and headers and duals in the context of doing a 14:1 compression engine built for E85. You could get by with your stock exhaust but it would cut the hp by about 50 to 75 hp.

I have true 3†duals on my truck and I also have electric cutouts. While on the dyno, doing some testing, I tried two pulls with the only difference having the cutouts open or closed. The result was an extra 40 hp with the cutouts open.

The new corvettes are getting something like 27 mpg, highway. Higher horsepower is not automatically bad fuel economy. It is how you use it.

The other side of the coin is what you have right now. A very inefficient engine that has to work harder with a higher throttle setting to get the job done.

I’m not selling anything here, just suggesting how you could get better fuel economy and do it with cheaper fuel.

You’re the one that said, money was not an issue........... :)

Well I had a K&N intake already. It might have added a little HP but it did make a deep growl every once in a while. You are right....money is not an issue. I'd rather dump money into the Tahoe instead of giving it to the gas gods.
