Where, cause i've been waiting on the 6 speed auto, all gm full size vehicle will be outstanding with the 6-speed auto in them. i really don't know what the hold up is getting this done.

I have an 07 Denali with a 6.2 6spd, and I never drive on the freeway. It's all in-town driving, and I have an intake, 24s and a heavy foot, I like the torque :) so I floor it alot. It says I average 11mpg

from what I under stand:
Your typical 4x4 tahoes cannot be bought with a 6 speed (yet..)
there are a few 2wd tahoes with the 6 speed (late 08 only)
GMC's and Cadalacs are available with the 6.2L and a 6 speed AWD
2009 tahoes will have a 6 speed standard with the OPTION of either a 5.3L OR a 6.2 (this is what I am told about the future and has not actually happened yet...)

I just got some "confidential" info from my dealer today about 2009's. I'll post it in a new thread to avoid a hijack.
hope this clears it up.

for now it is only available in 2wd LTZ option package. which worked out perfect for me because that was exactly what i wanted! i only have a couple hundred mile so far. in my opinion it is the best $1200 option you could ever buy!:) :) :)

I have a Yukon XL Denali with the 6.2L & 6 speed AWD (obviously) w/ 22's, CAI and a Superchips Flashpaq. I always have my foot in it and I get 12.5 to 13 mpg in city driving. I just took a nearly 4K mile road trip and got 16 mpg driving from Seattle to Phoenix via the Utah route (pretty hilly) averaging at least 10 mph over the speed limit. Driving from Phoenix back to Seattle I had my new toy in tow (Chrysler 300 SRT8) and averaged 11 mpg via the California route. If I obeyed the speed limit and avoided hard acceleration, those numbers could be alot better, but it's hard to go the speed limit with a wife, 2 kids, and a new bulldog puppy (who couldn't stop farting the whole time) on a 22 hour one way trip.

Almost. There are no "few" late '08 LTZ's with a 6-speed. Every Tahoe is still a 4.8L or 5.3L with the 4-speed through the end of the year, EXCEPT for the option on 2wd LTZ's only to get the 6.2L/6-speed that started several months ago and are what txshriner bought.

Only for 2009 do they all get the 6-speed, and can the 6.2L be combined with the regular 4wd system. Not before, late in this model year, etc.

I have a 2008 Denali AWD and average 12 -13 mpg. The 6.2 and 6 speed auto go nicely together. Very strong.
