4wd not working

01' tahoe: push button usually not lit up on any button 4hi,4lo,2wd. sometimes it is. sometimes i can get it to go into 4lo. i usually push it and it does nothing. any ideas. $$$$ im sure!

Sounds like the switch has gone bad... Is the truck locked in low now?

It is not locked in 4lo. Its in 2hi. when i push the button recently it does nothing. Sometimes the light is on 2hi sometimes no light. I have an 03' silverado and the buttons for it mess up too. sometimes I'll start it up and the 4hi light will be on but it will still be in 2hi. It does work though when I push it to change from 2 to 4 wd. Seems gm push button switches are junk.

I've never had this issue on my 2000 Yukon, but I suppose it could happen to anyone. How much do you use your 4wd system, and what for? This issue might be a reflection of the condition of your 4wd system as opposed to the switching unit.
