Hi, I am new to the forum and am looking for some help.

At 5000 miles, my Chevrolet Tahoe 5.3 has begun having a scary electrical problem :nonod:

While going down the road, it suddenly looses electrical power intermmitenlty: the gauges go to zero, the doors unlock/lock, the radio time is lost, etc.

It doesn't do it all the time although this morning it happened like 15 times while going to have it checked at the dealer...

The engine doesn't seem to shutdown when this happens, although since the electrical shutdowns are so quick, I don't think it has time to do so.

Anyone had this happen to their Tahoes??

Thanks a lot for any help.

Do you use your parking brake?

I remember reading someone having a similar issue where there was a wiring harness or something that was not clipped into place properly and the emergency brake pedal wore through the wire and was grounding/shorting the system out.

just something to check.

Yeah I posted that thread. Go to the dealer and have them check out wires and harness. Some of these new trucks have them located in the wrong place and it causes the computer to go crazy. There's a good chance a wire of some sorts is gonna short out and drain your battery.

Poe1983, did you get a chance to look at where exactly your wire was shorted?

Thanks for your help.

Click HERE to view the thread I posted. I didn't actually look at the wire, but I took the service dept word for it. It had something to do with a wire that connects to the parking brake. Try to do what I stated in the thread to see if all your gauges come back up. And listen to your engine start and see if you notice a lag in it.
