I am completely lost. i have a 99 tahoe with stock exaust and im looking for suggestions on how I should put a glasspack on. should i cut the muffler off or put it on the end of the muffler? there are two pipes (each one has a separete cat) leading to the muffler and the muffler splits it into 1 pipe and then exits behind the wheel. would i need a 2 to 1 conversion or something?

thanks, austin

yes you would need a 2 to 1 conversion, i believe they make glasspacks like that, i could be wrong though.

you sure you want a glasspack though? why not do a flowmaster or some type of turbo muffler?

I am pretty sure i want a glasspack. i dont want it to be loud as hell, i just want a little more performance and a low pitched, quiet sound.

If You Want It Truckish But Not Loud I'd Go With A Flowmaster Or Turbo. Running 2 Glasspacks For 2 Yrs Now. Love The King-kong Sound Comin Down The Street (you Can Hear Me Comin A Block Away At Least). My Tips Come Out At An Angle Behind The Rear Wheels. Big Noise For Big Toys!!!!!

glass packs aren't quiet. i have one on my 86 camaro and its freaking loud.

you'll have to convert the two pipes into one and then run the glasspack. putting it after the muffle will just hurt your performance and not change the sound any.

Thank you, I definately want a glass pack and i know how loud it is, but do you know what the right size and dimensions are for a glasspack on a 99 tahoe?

sorry for the confusion, Austin

call up a local muffler shop and they will be able to tell you what the size you need is, and they should have the 2 to 1 splitter on hand as well.

napa, advance auto, autozone, or whoever your local parts store is should be able to do the same.

I'd go measuse the pipes and all but my tahoe is still waiting on transmission parts.

Yea thats what i thought, I was thinking about getting the flowmaster 40 series eventualy but i just heard a friends glasspacks on the same 350 engine and its pretty cool, so i might get them instead of a full cat back exhaust from flowmaster. I still dont know though if i would get sick of the in-cabin drone of glasspack.

19" flowtech redhots are pretty quiet ($20 each) but still loud when u get on it. the longer the glasspack the quieter it is. i think the truck sounds damn good if u just skip the muffler all together and leave the cats. i have a dual in dual out single flowmaster 40 series with no cats and it sounds like a damn nascar. i had glasspacks but they sound like **** if u ask me. popping is for noobs

the only cool truck i have seen popping was my buddies '93 silverado with daul 2" straight pipes no muffler no cat. u could hear it coming from at least half a mile away. it had rear side exit so when u pass some1 and you rev above 3000rpm it would actually hurt their hearing permanently if they had a window down. wicked cool!
