Please take a look at the video I just made of my 2009 Tahoe. It was running just fine and then it started doing what you see in the video. It was also barely running as if it was going to shut off. Seemed like some type of electrical deal but I have no clue. I eventually just pulled over, shut it off, and let it sit for about 10 minutes. The issue miraculously went away but the engine light remains on. I appreciate any advise/recommendations.

what was the voltmeter doing while this was happening?....hhave you had a chance to scan for diagnostic trouble codes yet?...

shutting down and restarting is like rebooting a locked pc...sometimes it makes concerns go away for the time being....but something caused the problem...itll be interesting to see what you find...

It jumped up above normal operating levels as well. The engine light eventually went off as well. Can it still be scanned for diagnostic trouble codes?

it can always be scanned for dtc's....depending on the failure one may be stored in history...there can be many reasons why a vehicle can react this way....the dtc(s) will at least give a starting point and direction....

Thanks, I appreciate the quick response. I'm going to go to my local Chevy dealership and see if I can get a DTC. I will let you know if anything shows up.

They will likely charge you for the scan. Lots of parts stores do it for free. get the "exact" code(s) #'s and report back here. Don't buy anything yet. Especially since it running ok for now.

Ok, the local dealer said they can't see me until next Friday. Such a waste of time. I'll see if one of the parts stores can help out.

I could be completely wrong here. But I just posted my 2007 tahoe dying and having very strange electrical problems. I did have my alternator checked in December, it was over charging therefore causing some issues. Then I just got my truck back yesterday and after getting GM involved, they found my negative
Ground cable to the battery was bad. not sure if they just said that to shut me up, but we r grasping for straws at this point. Point is was I see on ur utube is very similair to mine. Just a thought. Good luck to u....

Just wanted to update you all on my issue. I finally made it to a local shop here. They put it on their machine and this is the code that came up: P2101.
They told me that the throttle body could be bad and may need to be replaced which was about $300-$400. Instead of going directly with replacing that, they recommended started with an easier solution first. They recommended cleaning the throttle body to see if I would have any more issues first. Then if I still get the same issues then replace it. So we will see what happens and I'll post another update later.

Scan Test - $42.95 Code:p2101
Labor to clean throttle body - $35.00

(Javsamjor) I inquired about a possible bad negative ground cable to the battery as well. They checked it out as well and it was good.

i had a similar issue on my envoy that was caused by a bad throttle body...surging and eventually a quit and no restart....

the charges they quoted are reasonable compared to many shops....

I kinda figured eventually I'm going to have to replace it. If it acts up again that is what I'll do.

Just curious what year is your Envoy? How many miles when it started acting up?

Ok thanks, I'm just trying to see if there is a common trend when this particular issue happens or not. I currently have about 113k.

(rockenbowtie) I apppreciate this. I just got back from my local dealership and they are going to honor the special coverage adjustment that you so kindly shared. Where did you find this by the way?

My issue with my local dealership is they have poor service in my opinion. So I get there and stand around for 15 minutes before anybody even acknowledges that I am there for something. This happened the last time I was there as well for a routine oil change. So when one of the guys finally asked me if I needed anything I explained my situation to him. I also had inquired about why this was not brought to my attention the last time I was in here. He said if it was not a problem they would not bring it up. How about give me a courtesy to look out for this issue and if it occurs bring it in and we will take care of it. And I also clarified with him what exactly they were going to do so there was not any confusion. He responded with yes if there is a problem. Are you serious. So I'm probably going to call the person in charge of the service department and inform him of the way things are running at his business.

special policy adjustments are public knowledge...theres no secret....owners are generally mailed a copy in case they have incurred similar expense and to keep in the event they experience a similar failure....

dealers are welcome to share technical service policy bulletins with customers and are required to apply them when a vehicle that qualifies for and requires the repair is present....

@bladenbullet.. Thats only on some not all.. some require the actual failure to occur.. and again my source is accessible to all service information bulletins not just public ones.. : )

they are all public information....and all require failures to be applied except in certain customer satisfaction situations....only recalls do not require failure...I managed general motors service departments for 17 years and am intimately familiar with the legalities and application of special policies...they are required by law to disclose all policy adjustments to vehicle owners...

the "silent recall" is a myth and there is no non-disclosed service policy information except goodwill policy that is determined on an individual basis for customer satisfaction reasons...
