07 Tahoe LTZ Keyless Entry and Key Programming Question

2007 Tahoe LTZ with remote start and power lift gate. I just purchased a 6 button key fob (15913427) and a blank key (692931). Is this something the dealer has to program or can I do it from instructions somewhere? I only have 1 original key and fob. Please let me know.

acording to the dealership they have to program it. I tried to purschase one the other day and the dealer quoted about $150 for it and another $40 to program it.

I bet that 40.00 goes right to his hip too........!!

Relearn Remote Key
This display allows you to match Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitters to your vehicle. To match an RKE transmitter to your vehicle, do the following:
Press the vehicle information button until PRESS TO RELEARN REMOTE KEY displays.
Press the set/reset button until REMOTE KEY LEARNING ACTIVE is displayed.
Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons on the first transmitter at the same time for about 15 seconds.
On vehicles with memory recall seats, the first transmitter learned will match driver 1 and the second will match driver 2.
A chime will sound indicating that the transmitter is matched.
To match additional transmitters at this time, repeat Step 3.
Each vehicle can have a maximum of eight transmitters matched to it.
To exit the programming mode, you must cycle the key to LOCK.

Yep and then another $40 for a spare key.

What happened to the good o' days when you could just go inside Walmart and come out with everything from spare keys to toilet paper for under 40 bucks...lol
