Need some help with this one. I have a 05 Tahoe 4wd that has a crazy popping noise from front end. It pops so hard sometimes u can feel it in your feet. Crazy thing is it will not do it all the time, it seems like you have to get the front end loaded up just right to get it to pop. The really crazy thing is it's worse in wet conditions. I have greased everything I can find on the front end with no help. The only thing I have done to the Tahoe is I put on a set of rims and tires off of a Yukon so they were bigger than original set. My wife drives it and said the noise did not start for several months after I put on the new tires and rims..
Any help with this one would Be great...

Thanks..

Not sure my issue is the same, but I have a bumping, popping noise in steering column when turning. Not sure if it is in the front end or not. Mine is also an 05 4wd. hoping someone can give us some insight.

@DC When does it do it most.. turns.. uneven suface turns..llevel surface.. need more input.. @ kdix yours sounds like the intermediate shaft what you can do on yours is right where the steering shaft comes out of the passenger compartment into the engine compartment theres a 15mm bolt with a nut holding the upper steering shaft to the lower shaft unbolt and separate and separate them now this is going to sound kinky but you need to stroke your upper steering shaft like 5 to 8 times just go in and out with it then bolt it back together and see if that helps if it does that will help for a little while but you will need to replace it

is this accessed under the hood? Is there a need for lubricant? funny you asked the other guy the questions b/c mine does it during turns and bumps and uneven surfaces. On the smooth highway you can feel it.

Yes under the hood again once you have them separated your going to stroke the one coming out from the passenger compartment and no no lubricant is needed but then again its all about your preference when stroking your shaft lol
