Hi All,
Does any one know what PCM parameters on a 96 Tahoe can be read by a scanner. I have an Autotap. Enhanced parameters are extra and want to know if it's worth the 100$. No sense buying if the PCM dosn't put out much more than the generic parameters. Tnx for any info.
Tnx I didn't think about that just figured it would be a bad valve guide. Just hate to do the upper work then have to go deeper. It's cold in the driveway this time of year. )) Want to fix it all at 1st try.
I have a 96 2 door 4wd Tahoe. I've been driving it for about 5 yrs. It's had several issues during that time frame. It fouls number 4 plug every 2-3000m. Lately it idles rough and hi rpm's. I have replaced plugs, cap and rotor, cam and crankshaft sensors and the IAC. Nothing has helped. I...
Forgot to say that the catalytic code has been gg on for a while(GF's truck she bought new car) Quart of oil every 1000 miles or so and plugs in #4 and 6 gg maybe 6000 before replacing.
Hi All,
A little history about this vehicle I posted this http://www.tahoeforum.com/showthread.php?t=10078 a couple weeks ago. That wass taken care of by the transmission repair guys that pinched the wires. Now I am getting a code for the catalytic converters not efecient. The tahoe does use...
Well you had mentioned timing earlier. So I did some internet searches to see what it should be. With my Auto Tap I am reading any where from -8 to -32. Way off. Also the code came back for the CPS. So climbed up into the engine compartment (I'm short) with a flashlight and followed the wires...
I finally figured out my problem. When the transmission was put back in the harness from the camshaft position sensor was pinched between the bell housing and block. So back to the transmission guy tomorrow!
I'm not sure about the CPS having to be set with a computer. I know that id did not come back as a code during my short test trip. The dist cap is Napa and the plugs are AC Delco platinum. Hmmmm maybe I will try OEM plugs to see what happens. But still the problem is the miss at 55+mph. One plug...
Well timing could be but it happens once after getting to speed above 55mph then may or may not do it again for a mile or 15 miles. Just very intermittent. Also sometimes it doesn't happen at all. I've wiggled wires/connectors etc in the driveway and nothing.

Current problem is low idle rpm about 500rpms. Idle seems rough to me. This started a couple days after a transmission rebuild. Another sympton is when I get to a range of 55-60mph the engine seems to cut out and right back on. At first I thought it was an overdrive problem but watching the tach...
As usual simple job turned nightmare. Replacing o2 sensor on 96 Tahoe and the threads galled. Are they all a standard size? Do most auto stores sell a thread chaser for them? Thanks
