Best plug wires / cap / rotor?

Autozone would carry it, but it wouldn't be an upgrade. Not really "positive" that it would be even better than OEM, might be worse. I would look to a local battery shop and see if they'll make cables for you. I did that and they used heavy gauge welding cable for them, I forget what size...

    Why All the Tranny Hate?

Lotsa hate, but considering how many are out there and do well, it's a wash. I used to think how crappy caravan trans must be as I always had one to four in my shop that were fried. But, when you figure there were hundreds of thousands of them running around, they're probably not so bad really.

    Multiple MissFire 99 Tahoe 5.7

Yeah, sounds sorta typical to mine. Once I "finally" do get it started, it heats up stuff, dries out, and runs like a champ... Great to hear it's back on track. Great deal on the tow! ;)

Gotchya... Thanks for the input. I'd agree with the note in that as well. :)

    Fuel guage needle inconsistency

Hehe.. I did a fuel pump when mine was on E, and there was a LOT of gas in there still... 5 Gallons left @ E certainly wouldn't surprise me.

    Fuel guage needle inconsistency

Never seen a low fuel light on my 97 Yukon. I've also ran very low. I don't think the time I ran out of gas is telltale as the sender wasn't acknowledging I was actually out of gas.

    Fuel guage needle inconsistency

I don't know about the second poster, who sounds like there may be a bad ground somewhere causing gauges to be whacky. But, I put an aftermarket fuel pump / sender on mine and my gauge went stupid. Ran out of gas at 1/4 tank, and 10 bucks gave me a full tank... Sometimes... It made more...

Best plug wires / cap / rotor?

I don't have anything on the Yukon stereo-wise. It's totally stock. But, I should look over the engine grounding for sure. Didn't really come to mind. But, I have a seriously overblown electrical setup on my Mustang like they describe with extra grounds and all 00welding cable for battery...

Best plug wires / cap / rotor?

Ahh, gotchya... Thanks. Never really thought of a bad ground (or other connection) causing premature failure of the plug wires... That's an interesting concept.

Best plug wires / cap / rotor?

Yeah, definitely thinking MSD again this time around... The big 3? Not sure I follow...

    Multiple MissFire 99 Tahoe 5.7

If that is the issue, I'll figure replacing the cap/rotor again is a solution (at least till they get marginal again), sad to say. I'm just sick of replacing cap/rotor/wires once a year as it isn't cheap. I just know when it's all new, it works fine, when it's over a year, it has issues...

    Multiple MissFire 99 Tahoe 5.7

yeah, my wires cap and rotor are about that old too, and here I am... AGAIN, haha.. Looking for a deal on a wire/cap/rotor set :) I went out today after three days to a soaking wet rainforest of a garage of 30 degres... No start, and cranked forever and it finally coughed and started. Drove...

Best plug wires / cap / rotor?

Have used AC Delco and MSD for years, seem fine on my other vehicles. My 97 Yukon goes through them once a year.... Any advice on higher quality parts? Are there higher quality? I'm sick of this once a year stuff with this vehicle.

    Multiple MissFire 99 Tahoe 5.7

Mine is doing a similar thing there Stirboo. I'm already aware my cap/rotor and wires need replace. Strange thing is I do it YEARLY.... with Delco or MSD and they go to crap in the year. When the cap and rotor get to a certain point, and you put your truck in a damp garage, the moisture...

    Plug wires... Premature failure.

Thank you for the input. I'm an reformed transmission diagnostics guy, and have Alldata. And I'm just stumped. Everything is ran appropriately with the Alldata updated wiring diagram that is supposed to help preveny misfire. I'm using factory looms and now even extra looms to help keep...

No, the engine bay is extremely clean.

    Plug wires... Premature failure.

At first I thought maybe a poppet or whatever. But, pretty sure it's the wires, I can visually see them arcing to each other or to ground... Try my best to keep them isolated, but that's not exactly totally possible. When I replace the wires, the issue goes away for a year and slowly...

    Plug wires... Premature failure.

That's what I thought as well. Every plug change, I've replaced cap and rotor with OEM Delco for good measure and always use small bit of die electric on every connection. I'm baffled as to how they go south so fast... But once they start arcing, they just get worse and worse. to where at at...

    Plug wires... Premature failure.

97 Yukon 5.7 4x4 150k I seem to go through a set of wires on a yearly basis... Have used OEM Delco GM, and MSD wires once, I use the OEM Delco Cap and Rotor as well. I've never had a vehicle eat wires like this (I have a Mustang with a serious coil and the fomoco wires are 5-6 years...

    Headlight issue...

Yeah, just saw that in the other thread. Actually, that does sound like the HL switch. I'm thinking it's pretty easy to swap, and not that expensive.
