Got my 4x4 working,turned out to be the "transfer case vacuum switch" located on top of the transfer case. I work at a salvage yard so I had access to a brand new switch, I'm glad I didn't give up. :happy160:

What is the transfer case vacuum switch do on a 1996 Tahoe 4x4

I've replaced the switch,and the transfer case control module today. It acts like it goes into 4wd,just the front end is not engaging. You can feel the gear ratio change,also you can hear the u joint on the front end make a little noise when switching from 4hi to 4lo in neutral

I have a 1996 Tahoe, it has electronic 4 wheel drive. I attempt to put it in 4hi or 4lo and the lights just keep flashing. I can hear the transfer case switching but will not engage the front end. I've changed the front end actuator 3 times with used ones. I couldn't help to think all of them...

Update ...... Had to put another sending unit in, works great ..... for now lol

I put a Delphi unit in about a year ago when the original pump failed

It was fine until I put new intake gaskets on it,and had a newer alternator laying around,so I put it on the truck. I am getting it back from the transmission shop today, so I'm gonna put the old alternator back on it, and see what happens

I just changed mine, I spent $60 on gaskets (the metal, and rubber Felpro's), and about 4, or 5 hours,and it runs fine. The dealership will put those p.o.s plastic gaskets back on it, and you don't want that

I recently put intake gaskets on my 1996 Tahoe. Ever since then my fuel gauge is on the glitch. I did put a new alternator on it, as well as a 4 gauge body ground from the battery.I didn't know if the new alternator would "back feed" or if it was a higher amperage than I should have. Any input...

Got all the funk out of the engine:cool: now I have a spare motor for the Tahoe. Those Fel-Pro upgraded gaskets are awesome

I did a pressure test, it's not leaking down. How long should it take for my oil to clear up

**update** intake gaskets did not fix it,so I just bought a rebuilt motor from a friend. He sold me a fresh long block for $240, yep $240 lol. Now I just gotta put it in Saturday.

The radiator had a small leak,she drove it from "around the corner" maybe 1/4 mile she says. She told me that is was running "warm". I put the new radiator in it I was hooking up the oil cooler line and see water in the oil.

My 1996 tahoe had a leaking radiator,I changed it,but not before my wife ran it hot.it does not push water out of the radiator,and does not run hot. I've changed the oil numerous times, but still have water in the oil. It does not miss,rattle,or overheat. I'm thinking I got lucky and it screwed...
