Hey guys, I have an '03 Yukon XL 5.3 that has started vibrating at any speed, as long as you are accelereating. If you let your foot off of the pedal and coast it will stop but as soon as you resume accelerating you get this vibration through out the cabin. When it first started I was on a road trip and I kept thinking it was the road. You know how when you run onto the shoulder on the "wake-up" ridges....it is like that but not that exrteme.

Anybody ever have any thing like this?

You might want to inspect your driveline. It read like a U-joint issue. Of course it could be worse too, like possibly a rear end or transmission beginning to go out on you. I think it is related to something towards the rear.

Funny you mention that. I just serviced the tranny about 3 weeks ago. Is there a way to check this out to verify, rather than take it to a tranny shop and them tell me that I need a rebuild regardless of the problem?

Ok between the driver's seat and passenger seat, sits the transmission. If you can have someone drive your truck to the speed where you hear and feel the vibration, you feel on the floor between said seat and feel for the type of vibration you say. If you feel it there, chances are it is tranny related or u-joint.

Now do the same only this time you hop your a$$, lol, to the rearmost part of the truck whereabout the rear wheels are, feel on the floor for any type of vibration. If you feel what you say there, chances are the problem resides in the rear, be it a rear end, or u-joint.

But other than that, I do not think it would be possible for you to have no choice but to take a driveline's shop word for it. In that case, I would go by word of mouth as to who people trust in your area. HTH

It’s rare but I have seen it happen. You might look for a shinny spot on the drive shaft; they are balanced just like wheels with a weight. From time to time the weight will come off and cause the vibrations you are talking about.

Actually I don't have a 4x4. But I did an inspection this weekend and found the problem. The front "U" joint. WOO HOO!!! I was so expecting the transmission.

One of the caps on the u joint had actually broken a peice off. And of course they were all dry....ooops. I did go ahead and inspect and grease the rear while I had it off. It was fine.
