So just curious what you all think about this. My wife took our new Tahoe to Oil Can Henery's where they told her that she needed to change the front and rear diferentials and the automatic transmition fluid. Correct me if I am wrong this should happen at 50K unless towing or constant hill driving. My wife then asked why it would need to be done when the Tahoe is an 07 and has 33K on it. He said that driving in 4 wheel drive can sometimes cause the gears to grind. She said that we took it on a 500 mile trip in 4 wheel for a 4 day period. My question is this guy trying to rip us off? Seriously I towed a 20 foot mastercraft x-1 for about 3K last summer but changing the difs already? I think I should call dateline on this place ;)

Sounds like a rip off to me, I'd change the tranny fluid at your mileage but not the diffs, sounds like they were testing your wife!!
I always tell my wife when it comes to those types of things that "you are only going in for a tranny fluid change, anything else call me first!!"

Refer to your owner's manual when it comes to maintenance items.

Typically what I do is:
Change oil when light comes on.
Flush ATF @ 30K intervals.
Swap out Fuel filter @ 15K intervals
Swap out Air filter/s @ 15K intervals
Flush brake fluid 3 years
Flush Power Steering fluid 3 years
Dexcool swap to ol' green or new yellow 10' away from dealer, lol
Differential fluid changes @ 60K

That place sounds like somewhere I'd avoid like Jiffy Lube. [sarcasm]I bet they use real good quality filters and fluids...[/sarcasm] You are due for front and rear diff services, but their reason is pretty bad. I work for a dealer and this is how we recommend the fluid services: at 30k differentials are due, at 50k transfer case, transmission, and brakes are due. I think the power steering is also due at 50k, but I don't usually sell that because I don't think it's worth the money. I sell fluid services by looking at a combination of how the fluid looks (the diffs always look nasty at 30k, especially the front), how many miles are on it, and how old it is. I'd recommend it to you, but go to the dealer for it.
