I am currently looking to purchase an 08 Tahoe... recently my wife and I have noticed a section of the windshield which is distorted. It runs the full lenght a few inches up from the dash. In one vehicle it was so bad you felt like you were looking thru a funny mirror. It is a real concern for us.

Have you noticed this on lots of others on the lot? I don't notice anything on my '07 Denali...totally smooth and no distortions.

I have only looked at 08's. It was first noticed on an 08 GMC Yukon and was so bad my wife said it was making her woosy. I agreed, it would be a deal breaker. Now I have been paying attention to the Tahoes we have been looking at and have seen it there as well..although not as bad as on the Yukon.

Interesting. They must be having glass problems w/ '08s -- first time I've heard of this (i.e. no one w/ an '07 mentioned it). It'd be interesting to see where final assembly was on those Yukons and Tahoes... I agree -- that'd be a deal breaker for me too for that/those particular vehicle(s) on the lot with the problem.

It occured on the '07's, and I think there was a TSB out regarding it. Mine has a slight distortion, but it isn't large enough to worry about.

Interesting...you'd think they would have these issues worked out. I know the GMC was very bad... I had wanted to order a vehicle, but maybe the best thing to do is to just keep looking and if I stumble across what I want make sure it has good glass. I had a 1995 ZR1 Corvette, the last year of production, and the glass on it began to delaminate...of course, the dealer said they had never seen this issue on any of the cars...only for me to find out later that , all of them had the problem, at least 1995 models. Can't believe in this day and age the glass would be an issue, but guess it all comes down to where it is made and who is running the quality control. Not to mention if we don't demand better quality, we aren't going to get it.

I just bought an 07 Silverado with a distorted windshield. The service manager at the dealer said Gm is aware of it and considers the distortion to be "normal".

:eek2: :confused2:

No distortion problems with mine. Maybe vehicle specific.

My wife complained about the problem after we picked up the 07 Tahoe in August 2007, she did some research and found info on a Service Bulletin about Windshield Distortion ( she works for Harley Davidson in Warrenty Claims, so she knows where to look for stuff like this ). We printed it out and took it to the Chevy Dealership, we explained the problem and they read the Service Bulletin and replaced the windshield. Hope thie helps.

Picked up 2008 Tahoe today... dealer said take it home for a few days and try it out, without any obligation. Man... the whole frickin windshield has the funny glass. Beautiful truck, black on tan... and ticks me off this stuff exists... wonder if the glass is coming out of Mexico? Looked at a Honda Accord yesterday , just kicking tires, and the entire car is made in the USA. Here, our American Chevy...... is piece mealed from thrid world countries... give me my country back and the way we use to do things.

Of course the guys in the sales dept. and elswhere have never heard of the problem... I copied the Tech. Bulletin above and plan on presenting to them.
