My 01 tahoe was running fine yesterday, and when I went out to crank it this morning it would start. It sounded like it was going to crank but just kept making the same starting sound.

Ok so I assume your truck still is not starting. The truck cranks but will not start. Ok you mentioned you ran it outta gas a month or so ago. Could have damaged the pump by doing so.

Sometimes what has worked for me in the past was crawling underneath the vehicle with a BFH (big ****ing hammer) preferrably a dead blow and while another person is in the cabin, have them try to start the truck as you whale on the fuel tank. That might help you out. If it does, at this time you can check fuel pressure and volume.

I would try this step after checking battery juice and all fuses and relays dealing with the fuel system and starting system.

Well thats what I'm thinking cause the truck would just turn off while driving. Then one day it was fine and now it will not stay crunk just turns over and over.

I agree with the fuel pump diagnosis....my 2002 Grand Prix GTP started doing that with me. It was fine one day, then the pump took a sh*t the next day. When they go, they go. Sometimes you can at least get it running by whacking the hell out of it, but that is definitely not something you want to use as a permanent solution.
