Hello all,
I have a coolant leak and plan to replace my water pump. I have been researching water pumps and found that two different types/models are recommended for my Tahoe. The difference in models is the size of thermostat it connects to, either a 1.88 or 2.05 diameter thermostat. Which size do I have? Besides taking the water pump off and measuring the thermostat, does anyone know if I can tell what size I need? Can you tell by a VIN or engine markings? I only have one vehicle, so I would like to purchase all the parts before I start working on it.
What's weird is that if you buy a new water pump, they don't ask about the thermostat diameter. If you buy remanufactured then they do ask about the thermostat diameter...very confusing.
2001 LS Tahoe, 5.3L
Thank you for your help.
