Seems to be a stupid question, but I have really exhausted anything that Google can offer. Any help is greatly appreciated! Here is the deal: I have a 98 2WD Tahoe. Yes, it is a rear drive Tahoe, not a 4WD! One of the wheel bearings (the outer) on the front passenger side died, desintegrated and damaged the spindle. From what I see it appears that this spindle is one part with the steering knuckle, so there is hardly any simple way to replace it. Does anybody know where I get this part? (I know about craigslist and salvage yards, but I need it to be new.) Thank you!

No, I checked with Advance Autoparts, Autozone and O'Reillys - nothing. They all have steering knuckls for 4WD trucks. Rockauto is no different :-(

By the way the only difference between the two is the 4x4 one is heavy duty for offroading

Slammed, have you even seen a 2wd spindle? It has a shaft forged/ pressed into it and doesnt have a hole for a bearing to be mounted.....

I repeat, why is a new one so important?

No, it has nothing to do with heavy duty. The 4WD has shafts, and its knuckle has a big hole for bearings. The 2WD has just short spindles to mount bearings, and no holes at all. Look at the pic.

Well, not that it is SO important, I just don't want to mess with a possibly damaged part which could have been bent after collision and will be giving me alignment troubles. I am ready to shell out a hundred for this knuckle, but it seems unrealistic to get a new one for this money... Will look at craiglist, then go to the junk yard.

Like I said, I got a really nice set off of a 2000 Tahoe for my 95 that someone had lowered, BTW it had been hit in the rear end.... Most junk yards will letcha look before you buy AFAIK.... Especially a pick an pull....
