Justin has tuned quite a few of those 6.2L and is impressed with them. We almost got rid of the Tahoe for an Escalade not too long ago cause he was itching for a 6.2.

Better weight distribution. Many new vehicles are being designed this way. Closer to the cabin and opposite side of the driver.

As mentioned already, the extra "void" you mentioned, is for adding an additional battery if you needed it. A good idea that I saw someone mention here is adding an enclosed battery box there. You can use it as storage (jumper cables, etc...)

I was planning to do that but decided its a better place for my tank/compressor to power my airhorns. :p

yes he needs one!! I am soooo impressed with that 6.2. she had the 05 nali with the 6.0 and this this is just incredible. I would love to drive one of these things with a tune... let me know if you ever put one of these on the dyno, i would love to know what the numbers are to the wheels

He only really throws trucks on the dyno when he is teaching a class , so I will have to go through the dyno sheets that he remembers to print out to see if he has put any on there.

Hey JennaBear, you godess to the tuning god you, got a question if you could ask Justin for me. I'm still not ready to get my tune yet, because I need to get a lift and tires first. But I'm considering a cam, pulleys, and tri Y headers first too, hehehe. Can Justin recommend a cam grind along the following parameters?
1. 34" tires with 4.10:1 gears, 4WD
2. Somewhat mild-mid, streetable, yet clearly worthwhile and noticeable gains
3. Looking for horses yes but also very interested in increased torque from low rpm's on up
4. Stock heads, rocker arm ratio, but maybe titanium retainers
5. Designed to be complemented by the data logging tune
6. Naturally aspirated

Basically want to get more out of it without totally distorting the driveability characteristics or requiring extensive upgrades. Perhaps everything, including the intake/exhaust I have now, to gain around 75 HP & the same in Torque Lbs/Ft.

Thanks for any feedback, you guys rock!

Black Dog- I am currently on travel but will be able to get back to you on some cam specs for you. Currently I am thinking that you would like a mid teens duration split pattern cam on approx a 114lsa.

Are you going with the stock torque converter?

Dang, she knows what's up! Actually I don't know what specs are good, as I don't even know what the factory specs are for comparison. In my mind I was kinda thinking just a tiny fraction more lift, nominal increase in duration, hoping to avoid any real increase in overlap. If that formula is even possible, that is. Do you know the stock lsa, or the other specs too for that matter? I understand cams but I don't have the experience with them to know what works best to the detail.

As for the convertor, I forgot to mention that, but I'm still up on the fence about it. I know it helps release some potential, but I don't want to race I just want regular driveable power. So still not sure, would probably only do it if it seemed I was wasting the efforts by skipping it. With that said, I don't want a cam so radical that it's performance is dependent upon the stall speed, but rather could be enhanced by it. I know that at some point I would need to build the trans too, and don't really want to tear into it just yet for the sunshell, etc. IF I did then I am sure I would swap the TC then. But I probably will at least add a shift kit and a set of servos. Another question while on the subject: Can you guys comment on the practical differences/benefits/drawbacks between adding a shift kit and increasing the line pressure? Something tells me that given a choice a kit might be better, and that doing both might be too much... That is to say that if I got the tune before any trans work, I would increase the line pressure, but then adding a kit later I would probably have to have the tune adjusted down, right? Thank you so much.

Sorry for the thread hijack guys!!

Just yell at me if you want this taken to PMs...

Black Dog- a mild torque converter would be strongly suggested, something like a 2400-2600 stall. That wouldn't affect daily drivablility but would provide improved performance all around.

I am not sure what the stock cam is on an 07, but I am thinking something like a 206-208/220 114LSA would be good for you.

A shift kit would be a good upgrade as well, it mechanically increases the pressure and corrects design flaws. You would not need to increase pressure in the tune with a shift kit, however, without a kit, increasing pressures is a good thing, as it reduces slip on soft components. Too much line pressure can damage hard parts, but Justin does not target a shift that firm.

Yes, I apologize for jacking it too, hopefully he got his answers from it already.

JennaBear- Thanks for the info. I probably will do a Transgo kit or something, I've got all this Amsoil ATF and I'm worried about increasing the slippage with it. Does anyone know how the Dealer would react to finding a shift kit if trans work was needed under warranty? I know the laws but I wonder if they would judge it based on the specific problem or would just try to blame the kit.
So yeah, just kicking some ideas around, hopefully I can tear into it as much as I would like to, including the TC. What I'm really dreaming of is putting a 6L80E in there; there goes the warranty but it's a much stronger trans anyway.
Most likely I will do a few things soon, get the tune, and then if I do more tune dependent things I will just have you guys update it, I guess.
BTW, I'm noticing on other forums that before people were always recommending a lot of your competition, saw some complaints about them too. Now I see Blackbear mentioned first and then the others, and ZERO complaints about Blackbear. I try to mention it too when I can. So yeah, the name is definitely out there in the mainstream now...
