Every time I have my front end off, I wonder that exact same thing.
I havent tested the voltage on it, but could it be for another set of fog lights?

nah.. its really a temp sensor - i have one liein in the floor of my yukon i got out of an GMC Jimmy.. i plan on putting the Jimmys console temp and direction thing in my 97 yukon.. just gotta actually do it lol

ok i found it online... it is a bit more exciting for some of you..

its a actuator switch for a front mounted vulcan cannon. ( most of our trucks have the 'vulcan delete adaptor' like you have pictured.)

Ambiet Air Temp Sensor - now... the Vulcan cannon... thats a WOMD... its bad.. i once saw a 99 Suburban w/ one on it.. the burb was all blacked out..
