I have an 08 Tahoe and can't figure out what the button above the dimmer dial does. My owners manual is on order. it looks like a light with a slash through it.

It is the dome light override. When pushed in, it prevents the dome lights from coming on when the doors are opened.

:iagree:

What he said.

Nice if you've got a sleeping kid and want to take them out without waking them, or if you need to be discreet when you get out of the vehicle at night.

also on my 00 yukon that same button is used to turn off the headlights/DRL with the vehicle still running. which is good if you wanna park but leave it running. i think you need to press it in 3-5 times in a row and you will hear 1 chime to let you know the lights are on or off.
