Hi everyone - I am new to the forum - very informative place - I did a search but came up empty - here is my problem or two questions - I just bought a 2008 LTZ in Black -I put a coat of Zaino on one week after I got it and it turned out bad - smeared, streaked - I just could not seem to get it all off - Zaino support said that I put it on too heavy and that it would wash off - the Zaino product line has worked well on all my vettes so I am not new on how to apply it - I have washed it about 5 times since and I still seem to have something going on that I don't understand - I noticed some steaks after the the wash today so I took my Zaino detailer and tried it to "clean" it up - the immediate area cleaned up but the surrounding area or the edge streaked / hazed up - it appears to me that there is something on the surface that is not cleaning up - on previous vehicles my first application with Zaino was preceded with a wash using liguid dish soap and then I would put on the wax - does this sound like something I should do in this case - or should I do the dreaded clay bar routine and then a wax job - this is my first black ride so I am a bit concerned with doing anything wrong. Second part - once I get it cleaned up what wax would be a good choice - I just want to get one good coat of quality wax and go from there. Thanks in advance for any responses -

As lame as it sounds, I've always had good luck with plain old Turtle Wax or Maquires.

I have been using Zymol cleaner wax on our cars, love the smell and love how well it works.

It sounds like you should strip it off and start over. Washing with Dawn should do it. From what you described it sounds like it is just one area that is bad. If that is the case wash the entire truck with Dawn then clay bar the area that was bad (no reason to do the whole truck unless you want to). Then re-wax in a shaded cool area making sure to only do a small section at a time.

Zanio is a great product and I have rarely heard of people having issues with it. I wouldn't hesitate to put it on again. However, you may want to try Klasse all in one product or Poor Boy's all in one. Both are easy to use but the Poor Boy's will even go on well in direct sunlight.

good luck

Thanks guys - I think the dawn, some clay bar and a new wax job is probably what I will need to do - there is just a residue of something that needs to be stripped - good job for a 112* Saturday---

I think you're on the right road. Sometimes, there's just weird stuff on the finish and without noticing, subsequent reactions from things you try to apply.

The careful Dawn wash & clay should get you back to a clean start. If you're familiar with the Zaino system already, same thing, and just careful and light straight lines, trying to minimize rubbing initially and always to keep the black mar and swirl free.

Best of luck:thumbsup: Oh do I remember the days of our perfect black '02 Avalanche...not care free, but nothing beats it if you properly care for black.
