Hi,
I`m Axel from Germany and I received my new Tahoe last week. This car isn`t seen very often in Germany, but my family and me loves it. Now I want to change the original chrome mesh grille and put a vertical chrome grille on the car. I`ve found a Solid Billet Grille by Precision on a shop (stylintrucks). What does it mean “Bolt over Do I have to replace the original mesh grille with the new one, or do I have to leave the mesh grille and install the new grille in front of it? What does it look like? Please give me some informations. And sorry, the question is perhaps easy to answer for you, but in Germany none has got an answer, because none is driving the beautiful Tahoe!
Nice greetings!
Axel

Bolt over means you don't have to take the original grill off, it attaches to it. I think it's okay but you probably need to paint the original one flat black so it doesn't show through, I think. Bolt over is a lot easier but if it was me I would probably go all out and do the work with a replacement one; for better looks and less airflow restriction possibly. But either type is probably fine as long as it is truly of high quality fit and finish.

Pet Peave #9- taking the time to give good information, only to have it be ignored.

Hello Black Dog,
sorry for my answer, coming a bit too late, but I´m not online every day. So thanks a lot for your friendly information about the vertical grille. I`m happy, that there is a forum with qualified members like you. I`m thinking about the replacement grille, because of the better look without the mesh grille behind. How much will it cost to get a high quality product? Can you give me an advice? Thanks again for your help!

Oh hey, no problem, I understand. Just glad you got the info. Good move to get the stand alone product, but as for prices and best manufacturers I really don't know. Hopefully some of the other guys in here with the experience on it will jump in and give you some more info. Also if you look around there are some threads in here somewhere that have pictures, prices, and good information about them.

Sure thing, sorry I wasn't more help with the specific products. I know there are some really good ones out there. Wish I was in Germany for some Oktoberfest. One of these days this German-Irish-English-French-Italian-Scottish American will get there...

Tahoe with LPG

Hello again,
I want to give you an information, about driving a Tahoe in Germany. Because of the high gas prices in Germany (a gallon will cost about 7,72 USD!) many of the american SUVs are converted to Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG). So the car ist running with gas or LPG. Because of the higher mileage with LPG (+20%) you can only drive about 12-14mpg. So the disadvantage is, that you have to make more stops to refuel. But Germany is much more smaller than your beautiful country and the distances between big citys are often smaller than 30 miles. The advantage of LPG is the lower price. A gallon LPG is about 3,56 USD. The modification with LPG is about 4300 USD. The return on invest is reached after 20.000 miles. Unfortunately there are just a few gas stations with Ethanol (E85) in Germany. This would be an alternative. Perhaps in a few years. Have you got any experiences with LPG or E85?
Best wishes.
